Statesman Journal article features Promise Kids

The latest round of Promise Kids continues to draw positive media attention, this time from the Salem Statesman Journal.

An article this week features students Madison Haines, a seventh-grader at Stephens Middle School, and Kaleya Postell, a kindergartner at Yoshikai Elementary. Both schools are in the Salem-Keizer School District.

The girls are among 27 students from Salem-Keizer schools who will appear on the website from now through 2016. Salem-Keizer is one of nine school districts that photographers and videographers from the Promise team visited this fall. Salem-Keizer School Board Member Chris Brantley also visited Stephens during photography to observe the campaign work firsthand.

Madison’s Promise statement is: “I am the Promise of Oregon because I want to help kids find books that interest them so they have the experience I have while reading.”

Kaleya made this her Promise statement: “I am the Promise of Oregon because I love learning so I can one day be a teacher to others and help them learn words and their ABCs.”
